In EFL higher education classrooms, ChatGPT helps learners acquire English or circumvent acquisition. Incorporating code switching discourages ChatGPT overreliance. The presenter will describe how she incorporated code-switching to provide comprehensible input (Fatimah, 2016), build trust (Jingxia, 2010), and improve performance (Maluleke, 2019) for low-level ELLs in courses with abstract curricula.
